WILMINGTON SENIOR MISSIONARY CONFERENCE
April 15-16, 2015
I loved the gorgeous azalea bushes. These bushes were at the Poplar Grove Plantation
This was the cookhouse. The entry doors are on the other side. Ned is standing next to the door for the "herb" cellar
Backside of the Poplar Grove Plantation House. (Cookhouse off to the left.)
Dinner at the Pilot House. Myself, E&S Hill, E&S Miles on left.
Ned, E&S White, E&S Francis on right.
Fort Fisher. We walked around on a self guided tour reading the placards that were there. Ned is 2nd from the left.
Barricade mounds in the back, pointed post fence and a little garden. Some of the journals spoke of nothing to do most of the time so they would practice military things all day long.
Beautiful grove of trees along the path at the fort.
My first time seeing the eastern coast. It was a chilly, windy, wet day. This was by Fort Fisher.
The stone tells about Fort Fisher.
In front of one of the cannons at the fort.
Albino alligator at the aquarium.
I wouldn't be this close to the alligator if there hadn't been 8 inches of glass between us. He is sitting underneath the water.
Turtles on a pond at the aquarium.
Ned's feet were hurting and tired after all the walking. He sat down for a while out by the pond at the aquarium.
The first urban slave quarters at the Bellamy Mansion. On left is the quarters for the house maid. the middle windows are the wash room. The two doors on the right are the bathrooms. (see picture below.) The upstairs were big open room where the slaves slept.
Five seater bathroom.
Front door of the mansion. We loved the ornate woodwork around the door.
Gardens on side of the mansion. Beautiful!!
